In 2012, the Minnesota chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) honored David Kostik, APR, with the Donald G. Padilla Distinguished Practitioner Award. Created in 1996 to honor the late public relations pioneer Donald G. Padilla, the award recognizes an individual who is judged to have made selfless contributions to the community and who has demonstrated exceptional professional achievement.

In accepting the award, David shared these comments:

"It was while working for Donald Padilla, David Speer and John Beardsley that I learned a simple definition of public relations that I've held onto: Do good, then tell the world about it."
